Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH) has completed its takeover of San Francisco Doctors Hospital (SFDH) in Agusan del Sur as the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led hospital group seeks to further widen its network outside Metro Manila.
MPH, the healthcare arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), said in a statement on Thursday that the 100-bed SFDH was its 25th hospital in the country and sixth in Mindanao.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to MPH, the acquisition of a 72-percent ownership in SFDH was done jointly with subsidiary Santos Clinic Inc., the operator of Manuel J. Santos Hospital (MJSH) in Butuan City.

“By integrating SFDH into our network, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that the people of Agusan del Sur and nearby areas have access to the best healthcare services,” said Oslec Lopez, MPH chief transformation and operations officer.
Article continues after this advertisementUnder the deal, both Metro Pacific Health and Santos Clinic are expected to “invest heavily” in the development and management of SFDH to help the latter expand its capacity.

MPIC began its foray into the healthcare industry in 2007 when it made an investment in Makati Medical Center.
Article continues after this advertisementThe group’s other hospitals in Metro Manila include Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center and Manila Doctors Hospital.
Apart from SFDH and MJSH, the company operates four other hospitals in Mindanao — Davao Doctors Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital in General Santos City; West Metro Medical Center in Zamboanga City and Howard Hubbard Memorial Hospital in South Cotabato.
